Glowing skin is always in
Nothing screams good skin more than glowing skin. I have been on a mission to achieve this for myself and all of my customers. It is achievable but this requires some commitment from you. Just like the gym, you cannot expect results after 1 gym session. Being consistent is key to sucess.
Glowing skin is not only for celebrities or due to a filter. You can achieve this but you need to put some effort in. The glow comes from a healthy skin renewal cycle. This is roughly around 6 weeks. As we age this cycle gets longer to around 12 weeks but can be encouraged to speed up with the help of targeted skincare.
When I reference targeted skincare I mean skincare that stimulates your skin to renew. Examples include facial acids like vitamin C and glycolic acid, retinol, bakuchiol, niacinamide, etc.
In this blog I will provide my tips to achieving glowing skin and cover an ‘at home mini glow facial’ to super boost your results.
Cue the explanation for difference between cosmeceutical ( brands you can buy in your local shops) compared to medical grade skincare. Medical grade skincare brands that I recommend are Obagi Medical and ZO skin health.
Generally, cosmeceutical brands struggle to penetrate deep enough to get the results you want.
Why is this important? If the skincare you are applying is only working in the top layers of your skin ( epidermis) this is a dead skin cell layer so will not work as well as a product able to get to the deeper ( dermis) layer. The deeper layers of your skin is responsible for skin renewal, rejuvenation and overall skin health.
Now I am going to get to how you can achieve glowing skin. The biggest take home message is consistency in your skincare routine.
A good basic skincare regime should consist of:
– Cleanse AM/PM
– Moisturise AM / PM
– SPF 30 + Broad spectrum AM/PM
All other skincare products are extra. Watch my short YouTube video on ‘BASIC skincare‘ for more detail.
Your skin is a bit like goldilocks, you do not want it too dry or too oily but just right.

I mentioned before about targeted skincare or ‘active’ skincare. This is skincare products that encourage your skin to renew, rejuvenate, exfoliate and reach a healthier state. Examples of products are retinols, facial acids like Vitamin C.
Your skin is a bit like goldilocks, you do not want it too dry or too oily but just right. Too dry and your skin cracks and becomes sore, too oily and can lead to breakouts.
Your regime should reflect your individual skin type meaning if you have dry skin you want to focus more on hydrating it. However, you want to avoid too heavy moisturisers as these can make your skin not renew and exfoliate as sit too heavy on your skin. If you have oilier skin you may want to use a serum as lighter weight.
A great way to boost your skin in the right direction is to use an at home treatment. I recommend using the ‘Obagi Professional C Microdermabrasion Polish and Mask’. Microdermabrasion is a scrub skincare substance that actively encourages your top most skin layers to exfoliate. This encourages your skin to renew. We know now this helps your skin to create that beautiful skin glow.

If you do not suffer from regular breakouts this is the kit for you. The reason is Vitamin C can be irritating on your skin especially at higher doses and this can create more oiliness and block pores in some leading to breakouts. This is not always the case and can be managed by reducing the use frequency and amount used.
